Starting from January 2024, the promotional social campaign of the Marche Region with the social ambassador Gianmarco Tamberi, world champion and Olympic high jump champion has been launched. For the next few months, new promo videos and shots taken in five locations in the Marche will be published on the social channels of the Region and Gianmarco, to disseminate the thousand facets of the Marche regional territory.

Andalusia publishes new grants of up to 60,000 euros to help tourism businesses become digital.
The Junta de Andalucía has approved subsidies for digitalization of micro, small, and medium-sized businesses and self-employed workers in the autonomous community of Andalusia. This initiative is part of the Strategy for the Economic Transformation of Andalusia Horizon 2027, aiming to improve competitiveness, growth, and innovation in the digital market. Greece Continues to Push for Sustainable Tourism
Over the past decade, Greece has made significant strides in developing sustainable tourism as a key pillar of its economic growth strategy. Renowned for its rich history, stunning landscapes, and vibrant culture, the country has recognized the urgent need to balance the economic benefits of tourism with environmental and cultural preservation. To that end, the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (INSETE) has compiled a report based on the research findings of the Considerate Group, containing 21 proposals for the promotion of sustainable tourism development.

Research seminar on Locally Based Tourism in Latin America
The research group “Planning and sustainable management of Tourism” of the UA organized last June 12 a research seminar on Local Based Tourism in Latin America. This seminar accounted with the participation of different speakers from different Latin American countries. The seminar was financed by this research group which, among other things, is responsible for promoting innovation in methodology and analyzing the role of tourism in territorial development and development cooperation.
Spain is one of the best destinations for anyone seeking sustainability
Spain is considered one of the best tourist destinations for travelers sensitive to sustainability, according to the study carried out by Mastecard ‘Expectations and behavior of European travelers in terms of sustainability’, and in which Turespaña has collaborated in its definition and interpretation. The positive position towards sustainability is testified by 38% of travelers, who consider it to be “very sustainable” or “sustainable”, and that Spain is better rated in terms of sustainability than other similar destinations.
Turisme Comunitat Valenciana launches pilot test on tourism sustainability “S” brand
Turisme Comunitat Valenciana and the Spanish Institute for Tourism Quality (ICTE) are working together to raise awareness of the “S” mark for Sustainable Tourism. To this end, a group of 40 companies certified with the Q Tourism Quality or with the seal of Tourism Quality Committment (Sicted) have come together to work on a pilot project. The “S” is a technical specification that aims to lead the way for companies and public managers to actively contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

New edition of the Sustainability Plans: 478 M€ for destinations
A new edition of the Tourism Sustainability Plans was launched last January by the Government and the autonomous communities, endowed with €478 from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. This is the 3rd Edition of the Tourism Sustainability Plan that are earmarked for projects in which environmental sustainability and digitalization are prioritized to achieve tourism that is more competitive and of higher quality. This year the priority are the “sun-sand” and blue tourism.
Spain wants to be a reference of sustainability for British Tourism
The Spanish Tourist Office hosted its First Sustainability Day on 26 April 2023 to address the new challenges of the tourism, from climate change to over-tourism and health crises and showcase Spain’s sustainable initiatives that have been implemented. The event consisted on a Conference in the afternoon consisting on three panels. The first panel was on Decarbonisation – the transition to true net zero; the second panel was on social creating better places to live in, to work in and to visit; and the third one was about the future of sustainable transport. On the evening the Spain’s Sustainable Media Awards took place.
