International Mobility of the START Project
Innovation and Sustainability for Tourism
The International Mobility of the S.T.A.R.T. – Sustainable and Technological Approach to Rethink Tourism – project was hosted from 10th to 14th June 2024, at the ICT Lab of the University of Naples Federico II. During these five days of training, participants explored techniques, methods, and solutions related to green-tech infusion and transformational team coaching to rethink the tourism sector and constitute the initial team of tech infusion coaches that will act as a driver and aggregator of a wide open network.
Objectives of the Mobility
The event brought together industry professionals with the aim of:
- Sharing knowledge and tools to help participants enhance the competitiveness of tourism businesses, reduce environmental impact, and promote eco-sustainable practices.
- Testing and improving the Greentech Infusion Toolkit, a tool designed for SMEs in the tourism sector to guide operators in conducting an “as-is-to-be” analysis for the circular transformation of their professional activities and in designing digital solutions to innovate tourism products/services.
- Training experts and coaches on the subject of ecological and digital transition, fostering the adoption of innovative solutions to support small and medium-sized tourism enterprises in integrating green solutions into their daily operations.
Activity Agenda
Throughout the week, participants engaged in practical sessions, workshops, testing digital tools, and transformational team coaching techniques. Below is an overview of the main activities:
- Monday, 10th June: Introduction to the Greentech Toolkit and coaching sessions on integrating green technologies into the tourism sector.
- Tuesday, 11th June: Designing the profile of the Green Tech Infusion Coach and training on the Toolkit’s tools.
- Wednesday, 12th June: Application of green, digital and technological solutions included in the Toolkit and review of the preliminary version of the tool.
- Thursday, 13th June: Testing of augmented and virtual reality tools for tourism promotion, with a focus on the use of apps and generative AI technologies.
- Friday, 14th June: Final review of the Toolkit and discussion on the next steps and the action plan for its implementation within tourism organisations.
